Don’t worry if you’ve never been to a ceilidh before, you’ll soon be joining in —it really doesn’t matter if you don’t get it right, there are no rules other than have fun. Or it’s fine to sit out the dances, grab a drink and a bite and enjoy watching everyone else — there’s plenty of time between dances to catch up with everyone and you can hear yourself talk too!
A typical evening involves up to two and a half hours of dancing, usually with a break somewhere in the middle, and can work for audiences of a few tens of people up to hundreds. During this time we’ll play around eight to ten dances, including a selection of circle dances, set dances and square dances, starting with some easy warm ups, before ending up with well-loved classics such as Strip the Willow! We’ll also play some tunes between dances to keep the music flowing.
We can provide the complete ceilidh experience — music, calling, amplification and even lights if needed, depending on your needs, and we bring experience of a wide range of venues from village halls to festival stages to marquees on a summer’s night. We’re also familiar in dealing with wedding venues and fitting in with wedding plans. We’ve even played micro-ceilidhs for just a few guests in gardens with no amplification. Please contact us using the form below and we’ll be happy to discuss your event.
